Quaint inn with a great ambience. Is very large and has a beer garden in the back. The good home cooking at solid prices can do a lot.

Committed employees who make (almost) everything possible. Delicious, regional dishes. Great atmosphere, Goethe has also been there before.

Good home-style, down-to-earth restaurant with very friendly, professional staff. Compact menu which is by no means negative, on the contrary. We stayed here two days in a row and the food was superb both times. We'll be happy to come back the next time we visit Heidelberg.

Schnitzel too small, fried potatoes too fatty. Had pork loin with spaetzle. Roast too dry, sauce from the package too thin and you can count the mushrooms. Price, performance too expensive

The staff was always friendly. The food is very good. The prices are OK.

Actually a very pretty old place. With ancient paintings and utensils. Friendly staff, really tried hard. The bottom line was that the food was delicious. But spaetzle from the pack and canned mushrooms don't have to be. As traditional as the restaurant is presented, the expectations are unfortunately not met.

Hammer!! There were seven of us there and everyone was thrilled. The service was great, the cloudy beer was really tasty and the food was also very tasty. (each something different) You sit comfortably whether inside or outside, the toilets were clean. Go there, feel good.

It's great to sit in Heidelberg's shopping street. I can't judge food. The beer was delicious and the service was very, very friendly. € 5.20 for a crystal, slightly overpriced, but okay for the location.

The atmosphere and service are good, the food is unfortunately disappointing and that's what a restaurant is all about. The spaetzle and fried onions tasted and looked like from the supermarket. I can't recommend it.

Sat outside the front in the sun. They have a beer garden to the back of the bar/ restaurant but chose the sun! Nice beers, had three from Heidelberger Brewery. Food menu looked good but didn’t eat. Service was good with friendly staff. It’s right on the Main Street. They do take credit cards which is helpful, over 20€ spend.

Not recommend. It was not bad, but it wasn't good either. My schnitzel looked and tasted like it was defrosted from a box...the first ever for me in Germany. Really disappointed.

Upon entering, we had high expectations because of the museum-like entrance to the Biergarten. Unfortunately, this restaurant failed to meet these expectations. When it started to rain we asked the waiter if we could sit elsewhere. However, this was not possible. Then we ordered a Wiener Schnitzel, but this was not possible either, because it was already sold out at 6:00 PM. After a toilet visit, we tried to wash our hands. This was also not possible, because no water came from the tap. The food was mediocre. Not very bad, but certainly not good either. All in all, we are dissatisfied.

Food is good, but portions could be better served, also I have eaten better steak.

Very beautiful, old building. Nice eaten schnitzel. Not special. But for the building and the beers definitely worth a visit!

The food is good and the prices are ok, a part from the bottle of water, that was very expensive! The waiter was really welcoming and helpful . Overall we had a good experience.

I absolutely enjoyed my dining experience here. The waiters were very attentive, friendly and professional. The food was nice traditional German food (caloric enough to get you a through a cold winter night) and the beers were awesome. The place is huge and it has this nice medieval touch to it. I can imagine it being perfect for a celebration involving a big crowd. It also seemed to have a biergarten.

The best service and food

If you like being treated in a rude manner when you enter versus welcome then by all means this is the place for you. I am sure these folks shout at you in German when you walk in are just tired of having customers. Tables were not clean so I guess that meant they would have to do some work. Rude and unpleasant atmosphere.

@陳奕綾 Asians = no patience (Fastfood like) , not really clean (after dinner mostly you have to disinfect the table) , take their own drinks from outside (for not to order inside the restaurant because sure the price is higher :-) ) and 99, 9 % NEVER tip a Cent in the restaurants I'm working nearby... All the same WHAT DO YOU ESPECT ? ??? Edit :-) = If you're lucky you can see the washroom (toilett, WC) really used as a "washing room" ???

Large place with a traditional vibe. We only stopped here for a few local pints, selection was ok. Wasn't busy at all that evening.

Restaurant with decoration typical of seventeenth-century Germany. They also serve typical dishes and at a good price. It is worth eating here because for a moment it forces you to immerse yourself in an earlier time. Also the treatment and service are very friendly

Tradition is kept very stictly here, and it's only for the best since you manage to get filling and hearty food - there must be some potatoes in one form or another involved, in an old-style atmosphere venue with historic music instruments scattered along the walls. A real experience.

Tables on the street were empty, but there were a lot of people on the terrace. The food was carried very long. The dishes are quite large. Everything was delicious ? only the meat slightly dries the flowers on the soda does not water.

Shame you can't give less than 1 star. We went in thinking of eating, and were put of by the attitude of the waiters. We stayed for an over priced beer and watched the rudeness and arrogance of the waiters, almost worth it for the entertainment... almost!
